FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Three hundred and counting. That’s the number of people hired so far at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in north Fargo. The distribution center, the largest building in North Dakota, the size of 22 football fields, began operations one month ago.
Site General Manager John Sabo says the hiring is on track despite the region’s staffing crunch considering Amazon’s target of hiring 1400 employees at the Fargo facility.
Sabo says Amazon has a plan that allows the facility to bring in new employees who can test equipment and familiarize themselves with the facility. That is planned out for several months.
Jacob Ament is among the first employees hired at the Fulfillment Center. He trained for several days and started immediately. Ament says, “I have fallen in love with the job…and it’s probably one of the best jobs I’ve had in a while.”
Ament is a college student and says he will likely stay with Amazon when he completes his degree in finance.
