LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The North Dakota State softball team had 11 Bison named Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes this week by the organization. The honor is for the 2020-21 academic year.
Five Bison are repeat selections for the award from the 2018-19 academic year. The award was not given in 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The repeat selections to earn All-America Scholar-Athletes were shortstop Montana DeCamp, third baseman Sam Koehn, pitcher Kara O’Byrne, pitcher Paige Vargas, and catcher Avery Wysong.
First time All-America Scholar-Athlete selection for the Bison were outfielder Emilee Buringa, outfielder Madyson Camacho, outfielder Dez Cardenas, outfielder Molly Gates, infielder Cameryn Maykut, and pitcher Mac Schulz.
The 11 selections are the second most in program history and one shy of the Bison record for the award, which was 12 set in 2018-19.
The Bison compiled a 3.55 grade-point average collectively as a team to be recognized in the team category. NDSU ranked 63rd overall out of 121 teams in Division I to receive the team honor.
