District 1 – Baudette area

CO Ryan Brown (Karlstad) monitored ATV activity in the area. Nuisance-bear calls were fielded and questions about the upcoming bear season were answered. A reminder to read the ATV regulations before going out.
CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls West) responded to a call of a car-struck bald eagle, answered numerous questions about bear hunting and baiting, attended training, and monitored area baiting activity. Area bear hunters are reminded that all bear baits must be registered, even if on private property. Bear baits must also display the required signage.
CO Tony Elwell (Thief River Falls East) focused on bear-baiting activity and ATV enforcement this week. Numerous calls about the upcoming bear season were taken, and presentations were given to local youth attending firearms safety classes.
CO Demosthenes Regas (Blackduck South) reports working angling and ATV activity this past week. Time was also spent handling nuisance-bear reports and monitoring an ATV complaint area.
District 2 – Bemidji area

CO Tom Hutchins (Crookston) reports spending time this week checking anglers and watercraft operators. Time was also spent working on public waters-related violations.
CO Brice Vollbrecht (Bemidji #1) patrolled area ATV trails and forest roads. He also assisted a local club in Becida with a firearms safety field day.
CO Chris Vinton (Perham) reports providing security at the Greenwood Fire near Isabella.
CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) spent the week patrolling area forests for ATV activity and bear-baiting activity. Swedberg made several ATV stops in the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge this week. Federal rules prohibit ATVs on federal property and Swedberg wants to remind riders that it is a $500 fine when operating on federal property. Swedberg also made an arrest for multiple warrants and driving a vehicle while driving status was cancelled.
CO Al Peterson (Osage) attended training all week.
CO Angie Warren (Mahnomen) worked angling and boating activity. Forest trails were patrolled for ATV, off-road vehicle and bear-hunting activity.
CO Bill Landmark (Pelican Rapids) reports calls from the public consisted of aquatic vegetation complaints (cut weeds drifting into beaches).
District 3 – Fergus Falls area

CO Troy Richards (Fergus Falls) reports time was spent checking anglers, ATV riders and boaters. Questions were answered related to upcoming hunting seasons and nuisance animals.
CO Andrew Goodman (Elbow Lake) spent time investigating calls regarding potential wetland violations and checking ATV riders and anglers.
CO Shane Osbourne (Evansville) checked anglers, boaters and ATV riders. Questions were answered about the early teal season and the regular firearms deer season. Public access complaints were received about not being able to use them due to the low water levels.
CO Mitch Lawler (Alexandria) focused on busy waterways and lakes. Recent heavy rains helped bring water levels closer to normal and helped those trying to get their boats off lifts and put away for the season. The TIP trailer was set up and staffed during the annual Youth Outdoor Activity Day in Alexandria, where thousands of area youth enjoyed numerous outdoor experiences at no cost.
CO Hannah Wood (Wheaton) spent the week at Camp Ripley putting background packets together for CO PREP candidates. She took phone calls regarding nuisance and injured animals. Minnow permits were also issued.
CO Brian Holt (Osakis) worked angling and recreational vehicle activity during the previous week. Time was also spent checking AIS compliance and following up on nuisance-animal complaints. Holt monitored bear baiting and other activity on WMAs.
CO Dan Baumbarger (Glenwood) reports enforcement efforts for the week were focused on checking anglers and boaters and following up on a potential wetland violation.
District 4 – Walker area

CO Michael Cross (Lake George) worked angling, bear baiting, and off-highway vehicle enforcement. Cross also assisted with a youth firearms safety field day for over 30 students. Enforcement action was taken for angling, ATV, and off-highway motorcycle violations.
CO Jordan Anderson (Wadena) spent time patrolling public lands on foot. Numerous individuals were contacted and enforcement action was taken in relation to abandoned/stored property. Rain was received locally but burning restrictions still remain in effect for much of the area. Questions were answered regarding the upcoming bear, waterfowl and small-game seasons.
CO Patrick McGowan (Walker) patrolled Cass county lakes for angling and boating activity. He also attended training. Enforcement action was taken for numerous violations.
CO Mark Mathy (Cass Lake) primarily checked anglers and bear baits. Anglers were having luck finding perch and walleyes. Mathy also investigated an aquatic plant-removal violation.
CO Calie Kunst (Remer) continued to monitor bear-baiting activity and worked sport fishing enforcement through the week. Calls were received on nuisance-bear complaints and early teal season questions.
CO Jacque Hughes (Longville) checked bear-hunting activity and ATV riders. She attended the ACCL meeting and received multiple calls about upcoming seasons.
CO Adam Seifermann (Staples) reports responding to calls and patrolling the area for seasonal activity. He would like to remind area outdoor enthusiasts to read the 2021 hunting regulations in preparation for the upcoming hunting seasons. As Labor Day weekend, approaches please be mindful of the resources, others and have a safe and fun weekend.
