FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Any doubt it’s dry, take a look at the Red River, which is Fargo’s main water source.
The Red is not a trickle but it’s at a low level that has not been seen for nearly a decade. Fargo is now listed in the severe-drought category which covers most of North Dakota now.
Troy Hall, Fargo’s Water Utility Director, says they’re tracking water use closely and he says he says the water flow should be okay for the remainder of the summer. Typically the peak water demand drops off after Labor Day.
Hall says he has seen a 5% to 10% reduction in water use since the city commission approved implementing water restrictions two weeks ago. Moorhead, West Fargo, and surrounding communities have also made similar moves to reduce water usage.
