MINNEAPOLIS – A St. Paul man will spend 18 years in federal prison for assaulting and attempting to rob an employee at the U-S Post Office in Oakdale.
The U-S Attorney’s Office says 23-year-old James Wilbert Jackson tried to pick up a package on June 4 2020, but it didn’t have his name or address on it.
The postal worker who refused Jackson’s demands said he left and returned multiple times. Prosecutors say he came back just before closing, jumped over the counter, and punched the employee in the head several times. The employee suffered abrasions, bruises, and a broken finger that required surgery.
Police said the package Jackson was trying to retrieve contained more than a pound of marijuana.
