FARGO, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks dominated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 16-6 Friday night.
The Goldeyes got on the board early when Tyler Hill scored on a Max Murphy RBI single in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead for Winnipeg.
Fargo-Moorhead answered in the home half of the first inning with Correlle Prime scoring on a Kevin Krause sacrifice fly to center field tying the game at 1-1.
The RedHawks took a lead on a Nick Novak RBI single that plated Alex Boxwell making it 2-1 Fargo-Moorhead.
The ‘Hawks put up 7 runs in the third inning, that included a 3-run home run by Sam Dexter, lifted the RedHawks to a 9-1 lead.
Dexter added an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Fargo-Moorhead a 10-1 lead.
The RedHawks added 3 more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 13 -1 lead.
Dylan Kelly drove in Boxwell in the bottom of the seventh inning lifting the RedHawks lead to 14-1.
Goldeyes first baseman Kyle Martin belted a 3-run home run to narrow the ‘Hawks lead to 14-4.
The RedHawks added a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 16-4 lead.
Winnipeg put up a couple of runs in the top of the ninth but fall short as the RedHawks hold on for the 16-6 win.
