GRAND FORKS COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – A Newfolden, Minnesota man is facing multiple charges after kicking two North Dakota state troopers, biting one of them, and escaping custody before being recaptured.,
The State Patrol says, around 8:30 a.m. Monday, a trooper tried to stop a southbound SUV that was going 95 in a 75 zone on I-29 between Grand Forks and Thompson. 38-year-old Douglas Reierson initially refused to stop, then later stopped, but refused to leave the vehicle.
Another trooper arrived, but Reierson resisted arrest and fought with the officers.
While being transported to jail, Reierson broke a side window of the patrol car and jumped out briefly he was caught.
Reierson is facing a number of charges including DUI, driving under suspension, criminal mischief, felony escape, fleeing a peace officer, preventing arrest, reckless endangerment, terrorizing, and two counts of assault on a peace officer.
The state trooper who was bitten was treated for his injury and released.
