GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Following three straight wins at home over ranked teams to begin the season, No. 3 UND hits the road for the first time to battle Western Illinois at noon from Hanson Field in Macomb. Tune into AM 790 FM 104.7 |94.1 and the Home of Economy Radio Network with Jack Michaels and Tom Dosch.
You would have to go all the way back to Oct. 27, 2018 to find the last time that North Dakota has tasted defeated at its home stadium, rattling off 10 straight victories in Grand Forks. The streak is now tied for the second-longest in the building’s history since it opened in 2001, matching a stretch from Nov. 2005 to Sept. 2007, and is the longest in the program’s Division I era.
UND continued to roll against ranked teams, notching its 14th win since 2008 over a team sitting inside the top-25 and its sixth straight victory at home. The Fighting Hawks have now started 3-0 on the season for the first time since 2008, but this marks the first time in program history that it has knocked off a trio of ranked opponents to start the season.
North Dakota has made it a point to dominate the second halves of games through the opening three contests of the season, outscoring its opponents, 63-17, over that span. UND has scored a touchdown on the opening possession of the second half in every game and struck for 14 points in the third quarter in the 21-10 win over South Dakota last Thursday.
