ON TAP
The University of North Dakota will play its final series of the 2021 Summit League season this weekend, taking on Omaha at Baxter Arena on Friday, Feb. 19, and Saturday, Feb. 20. Both games will tip at 3 p.m.
FIGHTING FOR THEIR POSTSEASON LIVES
The Fighting Hawks and Omaha enter he weekend eighth and ninth in The Summit League standings, respectively. Only eight teams qualify for The Summit League Tournament. With North Dakota observing its bye and Omaha playing Denver during the final weekend of the regular season, the series is crucial to UND making The Summit League Tournament. A sweep would clinch a Summit League Tournament berth for UND. Due to game cancellations this season, team standings are determined by win-percentage and not overall wins.
SCOUTING OMAHA
Omaha enters the weekend with a 2-11 overall record and a 1-7 record in The Summit League. The Mavericks won their lone conference game on Feb. 6 against Western Illinois in double overtime, 105-102, the most points in a Summit League game this season. In the absence of 2020 All-Summit League selection Mariah Murdie, Elena Pilakouta has been Omaha’s leader in the post with a team-best 12.1 and 5.5 rebounds per game. Pilajouta has scored in double figures in all six Summit League appearances she’s made. As a box-to-box guard, Claire Killian is also averaging double figures with 10.3 points per game.
