ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Minnesota firefighters suffering from cardiac issues or cancer would receive a $30,000 state grant under the “Hometown Heroes” bill.
Jen Frantz lost her husband, Matt, in the line-of-duty from a heart attack while he was chief of the Rice Lake Fire Department. Frantz told lawmakers if he was still alive, the bill would have been one of his top priorities to make firefighters were staying healthy.
The bill would also establish an assistance program for Minnesota firefighters facing emotional trauma.
