FARGO (KFGO) – Tim Flakoll has announced he’s running for the North Dakota Senate in District 44 in north Fargo.
Flakoll, a Republican, held the seat for 18 years before he was defeated in 2016 by a political newcomer, Democrat Merrill Piekorn, who plans to seek a second term.
Flakoll is the Provost for Tri-College University and Director of Operations for NDSU Downtown. He served as chair of both the Senate Education and Agriculture committees. He ran unsuccessfully for one of two seats on the Fargo City Commission in 2018.
Piepkorn has had a longtime career as a radio personality, entertainer and community activist.
