LANGDON, N.D. (KFGO) – The Cavalier County Sheriff’s Office says a man reported missing Saturday afternoon, was found dead in Langdon.
Conner Sander, 23, of Grand Forks, was in Langdon to referee the North Dakota Junior Gold hockey tournament and didn’t show up for his game at the Dakota Spirit Arena.
About an hour after Sander was reported missing, a sheriff’s deputy received a call that it appeared there was someone in a field near a construction company on the outskirts of town where deputies found his body.
The Sheriff’s Department believes Sander was walking from the Langdon Motor Inn to the Cobblestone Inn, got confused and cold, and died in the field almost half a mile away. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures Friday night into Saturday morning in the Langdon area were around 8 to 10-below with windchill’s of about 15 below.
The death is under investigation.
